Hello, I'm Kenda Schlueter, speech therapist and owner of Waseca Integrated Therapy Hub. I have been a Speech Language Pathologist for 13 years, and have experience in both the private and educational settings. When I am not hanging out with your kiddos, I can usually be found spending time with my family outdoors.... we love hiking, biking, and all things sports. I am passionate about providing children with the communication skills they need in order to develop and maintain relationships and to be active learners in their daily lives. I am so excited for the opportunity to collaborate with other local professionals to develop children’s speech, language, and social skills through play, and to support them and their families every step of the way at WITH.

Hi, I’m Bauer! Ms Kenda’s hockey-loving family named me this in the middle of 2022 when I joined her at WITH. I am a happy Goldendoodle who loves kiddos and helping out with therapy sessions! Did you know that studies have shown that interacting with animals like me can help reduce anxiety and depression, and positively impact motivation, engagement, and sense of security and emotional support during therapy sessions? I’m the perfect addition to these sessions, because I love hanging out with the kiddos and helping them feel more calm and self-confident. I know that therapy sessions can be very challenging, but I have a special bond with my kiddos and I help to make learning playful and fun!

Speech language therapy can assist with better understanding of a word’s sound structure for help with pre-reading and reading skills. Ms Kenda is Orton-Gillingham trained: A research-based approach to reading, spelling, and phonological processing with the following key components:
*Multisensory - Focuses on linking the major pathways to the brain: visual (sight), auditory (sound), and kinesthetic (touch)
*Sequential - Concepts are taught in a logical, well-planned sequence
*Incremental and Cumulative - Skills continue to build upon one another, with consistent review and reinforcement of previously learned skills
*Structured - Concepts are taught in a consistent way using predictable routines
*Individualized - Children’s unique needs are met and areas of strength are utilized
*Systematic Phonics - Teaching children that letters correspond to specific sounds and sounds are used to make up words
*Explicit - Intentional planning and learning using an evidence-based approach

Receptive: If your child has a hard time processing, attending to, or understanding spoken language, speech therapy may help him/her with tasks such as following directions, answering questions, and identifying and naming common objects.
Expressive: If your child has a hard time effectively communicating with others, speech therapy can help your child work on areas such as increasing the number of words used, proper sequencing of information, using accurate grammar and sentence structure, and developing alternative communication methods, such as sign language, picture exchange, speech generating devices, etc.
Speech therapy may benefit your child if he/she is having a hard time in social situations, which could include things such as: effectively holding conversations, playing with others, working as part of a team, making predictions about what others are thinking and feeling, problem solving, self-advocating, understanding humor, sharing spa
Speech therapy may benefit your child if he/she is having a hard time in social situations, which could include things such as: effectively holding conversations, playing with others, working as part of a team, making predictions about what others are thinking and feeling, problem solving, self-advocating, understanding humor, sharing space with others, seeing themselves in the eyes of others, etc. WITH could help your child better understand the unwritten social rules of different situations they may encounter, which will assist in connecting with others and making and keeping quality relationships throughout his/her life.
If you have a hard time understanding what your child says, or if you find yourself having to "translate" for others, your child may benefit from speech therapy to help him/her accurately produce specific sounds or sound patterns that are affecting their overall speech intelligibility.
We also provide services in other areas, including but not limited to: Fluency/stuttering, Voice quality and vocal hygiene, Accent/dialect modification
We work primarily with children; however, if we are the right fit for each other, we also see adult patients.
We offer free in person or phone consultations at any time to discuss if we are the right fit for you and your family.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at any time.
